Payments Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the features of the ReCollect platform designed to facilitate the collection of payment information for the purpose of payment processing ("ReCollect Payments"). The ReCollect Payments service enables people to pay online for special collections, such as bulky items, household hazardous waste, yard waste, and anything else that is not collected as part of the standard curbside collection. When this Privacy Policy mentions "ReCollect," "we," "us," or "our," it refers to ReCollect Systems Inc., and "customers" or "you" refers to customers of ReCollect (e.g., municipalities or private garbage hauling companies) that have agreed to use ReCollect Payments. ReCollect Payments is currently operated through an integration with Stripe's payment processing platform, Stripe Connect, and use of ReCollect Payments is also subject to Stripe's privacy policy, available at https://stripe.com/en-ca/privacy.

In this Privacy Policy, "Connected Accounts" means customers of ReCollect that have onboarded to the ReCollect Payments platform via Stripe Connect; actions submitted by or on behalf of Connected Accounts using Stripe Connect are referred to as "Activity", and this includes the communication of information about any particular payment transaction (each, a "Transaction"), as well as other features as described in the Stripe Connect documentation; and "Connected Account Data" refers to data about Connected Accounts, Activity on their Stripe Accounts, and their Transactions. In this Privacy Policy, capitalized terms that are used, but not defined, have the meanings given such terms in the Stripe Connect Platform Agreement.

We only access and use your Connected Account Data for purposes of providing the ReCollect Payments services, that is, to facilitate the processing of Transactions as necessary to provide the services under your agreement with us. When you connect your Stripe account to ReCollect Payments, we can view all Transactions on your connected Stripe account, so we encourage customers to connect dedicated Stripe accounts for ReCollect Payments to our platform. We keep all of your Connected Accounts Data confidential and only use or access it for purposes of completing Transactions requested on the ReCollect Payments service of our Platform. Connected Account Data is only disclosed to Stripe and as reasonably necessary to communicate with end users regarding the completion of Transactions.

As part of the ReCollect Payments service, we communicate Transaction information to Stripe so that charges can be initiated as requested. This is generally the only Activity we would undertake on your behalf. If you are having trouble performing a different Activity (e.g. issuing a refund), we may interface with Stripe on your behalf, but only if you request us to do so. We may also access your Connected Account for purposes of testing and troubleshooting with your permission.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new services, changes in our practices, changes in our payment processing integration partners or relevant laws. The "Last revised" legend at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised. Any changes are effective when we post the revised Privacy Policy on our website. We may provide you with disclosures and alerts regarding the Privacy Policy or Connected Account Data collected by posting them on our website and, if you are a customer, by contacting you through your contact email address and/or the physical address listed in your agreement with us.
